    <ns1:description language="sr">Nestanak vrsta i smanjenje biodiverziteta predstavljaju najozbiljnije globalne
posledice ugrožavanja životne sredine. Akvatični ekosistemi su pod intenzivnim
antropogenim uticajem u smislu zagađenja, prekomerne eksploatacije, modifikacije vodotokova, degradacije staništa i unosa invazivnih vrsta. Pad biodiverziteta je daleko veći u slatkovodnim ekosistemima nego u najugroženijim terestičnim ekosistemima, a najugroženiji su invertebrati, poput slatkovodnih rakova. Čak jednoj trećini slatkovodnih rakova širom sveta preti rizik od izumiranja.
Rakovi su najveći pokretni, slatkovodni beskičmenjaci i indikatori su dobrog
kvaliteta voda. Poznati su kao značajne komponente biodiverziteta, sa važnom
ekološkom ulogom u pravilnom funkcionisanju slatkovodnih ekosistema i
ključnom ulogom u lancima ishrane.
Rečni rak ima kompleksan istorijski i genetički status koji je oblikovan
geološkim događajima, gubitkom staništa i zagađenjem, ali je i posledica
translokacija i reintrodukcija, kako autohtonih, tako i alohtonih vrsta rakova,
koje su dovele do razbijanja prirodne genetičke strukture vrste, do mešanja i
gubitka populacija širom Evrope. Zabeleženo je opadanje prirodnih populacija za
50–70%, pa se našao i na Crvenoj listi ugroženih vrsta Međunarodne unije za
očuvanje prirode gde je klasifikovan kao „ranjiva vrsta” sa trendom smanjenja broja
populacija i subpopulacija i smanjenja areala rasprostranjenja.
Ciljevi ovog istraživanja bili su: analiza morfološke varijabilnosti populacija
vrste Astacus astacus na istraživanom području Balkanskog poluostrva primenom
metode klasične morfometrije; filogenetičko istraživanje populacija analizom
16S rRNA i COI gena mitohondrijalne DNK; procena nivoa diferencijacije
populacija i stanje istraživanih populacija analizom nuklearnih markera –
mikrosatelita; procena rizika izumiranja primenom ESHIPPO crayfish modela
(Simić et al., 2015) i određivanje prioriteta zaštite na istraživanom području i
definisanje evoluciono značajnih jedinica (ESUs) i jedinica upravljanja (MUs).</ns1:description>
    <ns1:description language="en">The disappearance of species and the decline of biodiversity are the most serious global consequences of environmental threats. Aquatic ecosystems are under intense anthropogenic influence in terms of pollution, overexploitation, water course modification, habitat degradation and introduction of invasive species. The decline of biodiversity is far greater in freshwater ecosystems than in the most threatened terrestrial ecosystems, and the most vulnerable are invertebrates, such as freshwater crayfish. Even one-third of freshwater
crayfish worldwide are at risk of extinction.
Crayfish are the largest mobile, freshwater invertebrates and indicators of good water quality. They are known as significant components of biodiversity, with an important ecological role in the proper functioning of freshwater ecosystems and the key role in food chains.
The noble crayfish has a complex historical and genetic status shaped by geological events,
habitat loss and pollution, but is also a consequence of translocations and reintroduction of
both autochthonous and allochthonous species of crayfish that led to the disruption of the
species genetic structure, mixing and loss of populations across Europe. Natural
subpopulations of the noble crayfish have been declining for 50-70% and it is classified as
a &quot;vulnerable species&quot; in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species with a decreasing trend
of populations and subpopulations and decreasing distribution areas.
The objectives of this study were: to analyze the morphological variability of populations
of the species A. astacus in the study area of the Balkan Peninsula by using the classical
morphometry method; phylogenetic study of populations by analysis of 16S rRNA and COI
genes of mitochondrial DNA; evaluation of the differentiation and status of the studied
populations by microsatellite markers; assessment of extinction risk by using the ESHIPPO crayfish model (Simić et al., 2015) and defining conservation priorities in the study area and identifying evolutionarily significant units (ESUs) and management units (MUs). </ns1:description>
