<ns2:alt_title language="sr">Redefinition of the relation between love and politics in the works of Arundathati Roy, Adrienne Rich and Margaret Atwood : doctoral dissertation</ns2:alt_title>
    <ns1:language>sr</ns1:language>
Primenapredloženog okvira u analitičkom delu disertacije, komparativno-kontrastivnommetodom, ukazuje na sličnosti i razlike u uvidima u prirodu ljubavi i njenogpolitičkog značaja u delima spisateljicȃ i vodi do zaključka o održivosti idejeredefinisanog odnosa ljubavi i politike, kao i o potrebi aktivnog i kritičkog stanjačoveka u sistemima dominacije, poput patrijarhalnog, kolonijalnog ikapitalističkog, pošto glavni protagonisti dela Arundati Roj, Adrien Rič iMargaret Atvud pružaju otpor i krše pravila i zakone takvih sistema. Kako usistemima dominacije nema jedinstva ličnog i političkog, one alternativu vide ukulturi u kojoj je ljubav deo društvenog i političkog života.
<ns1:description language="en">The dissertation analyses one novel by Arundhati Roy, three poetry collections byAdrienne Rich and three novels by Margaret Atwood in order to examine how love, understoodas an active social force, is separated from its impact on political unjustices and inqualities. The theoretical part of the disseratation presents an interdisciplinary framework which showshow traditional Western European philosophical systems separate love from politics, andcontrasts this with the views of Erich Fromm and belhooks about the necessity of thepolitization of love in the systems of domination, which uphold male principles ofsubordination and hierarchy while ignoring female principles of democracy and equality. Thesuggested framework is applied in the analytical part of the dissertation, using comparative andcontrastive methods which reveals both similarities and differences in how love and its politicalsignificance are understood in the works. It leads to the conclusion that the redefined relationbetween love and politics is sustainable. The study also emphasizes the need for a criticalmindset in the patriarchal, colonial and capitalistic domination systems since the mainprotagonists in the works of Arundhati Roy, Adrienne Rich and Margaret Atwood resist andbreak the rules and laws of these systems. In the absence of unity between the personal andpolitical within the systems of domination, the writers offer an alternative, proposing theculture where love is part of political life. All three seek ways to transform love into an activeforce, restoring its social function, which is not only seen in their literary and essayistic works, but also through their active political lives.</ns1:description>
